I fell in love with “knit” on cake the first time I saw it.
It just speaks to me.
Maybe because I’m one of the consistently coldest people you’ll ever meet in your entire life (PHYSICALLY of course, not in sentiment, I swear it! I’m just a big, warm pile of mush on the inside, believe me. 😉 )
But honestly, I’m the weird one who’s always slightly chilly when just about everyone else in the general vicinity is sweating.
(I’m told that it doesn’t help much that I have this little, teensie weensie ice chewing habit, with a nugget ice machine sitting on my counter top, running full time just to feed my addiction… but ya know… whatEVS.)
Hence, big chunky sweaters are my go to. (Often even in the summer. The struggle is real.)
So seeing a cake with a knit finish on it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
And it makes me happy.
(And we’ll pretend that doesn’t make me weird.)
So when Marvelous Molds recently launched a new line of knit themed molds and sent me some to test out, I fell hard before I even opened the packaging.
And then after I actually used them, I fell harder.
IN.LOVE. (<—Doesn’t even cover it.)
I soon after happened upon this little snowman image online, and I knew instantly that I must submit myself to turning it into a cake using my new knit molds to fashion his outfit… or be tormented by the idea of it for the rest of my life.
I happily chose to submit.
And I’m so glad I did ’cause I’m not gonna lie… that was a SERIOUSLY fun cake to make.
And while I’ve successfully resisted the urge to kiss and gently caress each and every one of my new Marvelous Molds, I will not pretend that it was easy to do so.
(Ok, fine, I totally kissed them. Again, weird.)
In short, I highly recommend you getting yourself some of the molds (or ALL of them if that works for you, ’cause YEAH) in this new FABULOUS knit set by Marvelous Molds.
They’re high quality.
They’re SUPAH easy to use.
And they’re… precious. (Yes, I just totally used that word to describe a mold and I don’t even care.)
And if you’d like to see how I made this skiing snowman cake, the full, step by step video tutorial is available as part of a membership to Cakeheads.com!
I did make a free video for you as well, of how I created the snowman’s skiis if you’d like to check it out here…
And here’s a time-lapse video showing me fashioning the snowman’s outfit onto the cake using the knit molds collection (’cause time-lapses are just fun)…
K, off to fill up my ice cup and throw on another sweater! 😉
